Governor Bob McDonnell has received the state's approval for the construction of an offshore win turbine in the lower Chesapeake Bay area.

ARLINGTON, VA (Catholic Online) - The turbine should be operational around 2013 and will be sitting three miles off the eastern shore town of Cape Charles.

However, the Army Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Coast Guard still needs to approve the project. But if it is decided to be built, it would make Virginia the first state to have an offshore wind turbine that runs.

McDonnell calling the state level approval as a huge step forward in his energy development strategy.
