The North Anna generating facility.
Dominion Virginia Power has shut down a nuclear reactor after noticing a problem with a cooling pump seal.

VIRGINIA NORTH, VA (Catholic Online) - One of the reactors at the North Anna generating facility has been shut down after operators noticed a seal on a coolant pump was degrading.

The reactor was shut down on Sunday night and operators are replacing the seal. They have also elected to replace a seal on a second pump as a means of being proactive.

They say the process will probably take several days.

It should be stressed that there is no danger to the plant, its workers or the surrounding area.
